No Sleep

I have NO idea what the deal is, but bumps will not sleep anymore. We put him down at the usual time and he is visably tired, but he will not sleep. It is 10:30 right now and he has been in there crying for over an hour. M says there is no getting him tonight because that is why he keeps crying. I am so aggravated because I want to know what is going on. Neither M or I can sleep because he is in there crying, but if we get him, all he wants to do is play and we are not playing that game. So now M is telling me to go into the back room with him so bumps thinks that we are asleep also. Hopefully it will work. . .

Great Big Gobs of. . .

PUKE!!!!!!!!! GROSS-O!!!!!!!! I freaking cursed myself. I was laying in bed the other night thinking about how lucky I have been that bumps hasn't been all that sick yet. Yeah, well tonight he was crying in his crib and I knew that something was wrong. When I went in to get him, he had puked all over his crib and the floor. M took bumps and I cleaned up the crib and put the sheets in the wash. I came up after putting them in the dryer and bumps was crying in M's lap. Right when I asked what was wrong he just started puking again. All over the couch and the carpet. So now he is in the bath with M and I am again cleaning up puke. Looks like it is going to be a long night. . .

Bubbles!!!!!!

Bumps discovered something new tonight. . .bubbles! We were over at our neighbor M and M's tonight (hahaha, that sounds so funny) and bumps discovered their daughter, A's, bubble thing. The cool thing about it is that it is spill proof, which is great for him. He fell in love with it. He kept putting the wand in and out of it. A would blow bubbles at him and he would laugh and chase them. M would hold it up for him to blow a bubble and he would try really hard and then just put it in his mouth instead. It was pretty funny. Now we have to search for the spill proof bubble container that she had!

I Like to Move It, Move It

Bumps has a new favorite song. It is "I like to move it, move it" off of the Madagascar dvd that we just bought. We put on the video for him and he completely busts a move to it. It takes him a minute to warm up, but once he gets going, he gets going. When the song is over, he points and makes all kinds of noises so we turn it back on for him. His new favorite move is shaking his head really fast and stomping his feet at the same time. He takes after his daddies side when it comes to dancing. . .

The Abominable Snow Bumps

Here is a pic of bumps in his new duds. He looks like a giant marshmallow in it. M likes to joke that he is like the kid off of A Christmas Story that is all bundled up and can't move any part of his body. The sad part is that it is so true. The poor kid can't even turn his head in the dang thing. But he looks cute and that is all that matters!

Shopping for Bumps

Today was our big Christmas shopping day for Bumps and we finished it!!! Wa-hoo. Everything we bought was bumps tested and bumps approved. We took him to Toys R Us and let him run around and play with things. He had a ball. He fell in love with the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Chair. We couldn't tear him away from it. So of course Santa is bringing it to him this year. And he is getting a push mower that blows bubbles and a slide. We didn't buy him the big slide like we originally intented too. Instead we just did a small one. That way it doesn't take up to much room in our house. I am so excited to see what happens on Christmas morning!!!

I'm Getting Nothin' for Christmas

We had the squadron Christmas party yesterday and low and behold M and I pull a "parents of the year." We completely didn't remember that we were supposed to bring a wrapped book for Santa to give to bumps when he arrived to visit the kids. So Santa arrives and we immediatly steer bumps to another area of the room so he doesn't realize our mistake. Then again, he is 16 months old for Christ's sake. What 16 month old really cares about Santa??? Evidently not ours because he never knew the difference. But by God he knew when the cheese and strawberries ran out!!!

Shoes and Spiders

There was a lovely little spider crawling up our wall tonight that I promptly told M to kill. He grabbed one of Bumps shoes and smashed the spider (thank God!). Bumps watched the whole time as it was happening.

As soon as his shoe hit the floor afterwards, Bumps promptly grabbed it, took it over the the wall and started "smashing" the invisible spider on the wall. It was too funny and he was so proud of himself. At least I know that I have someone to protect when daddy is gone!

First Haircut!!!

I am officially depressed! Bumps curls are all gone!!! We finally gave in and cut his hair. I am not happy with his bangs because the gal cut them way to short, but that's ok, they will grow. He was such a big boy the whole time. He didn't cry at all and actually enjoyed it. Probably the attention that he got!!! Go figure! He even received a Babies First Haircut certificate for his baby book. Man, my little bumps is growing up way to fast!!!

Back From Vacation!

We just got home from our first family vacation in awhile and it was so much! We went to Seattle for a few days and had a really good time! We finally ate at the Melting Pot, a place I was dying to eat at! It was really worth the wait! I love fondue, it is so much fun! Bumps was a pain in the hiney the whole time, but that's ok we made it through! Our room had a nice jacuzzi tub in it, but it was actually in the room, so no mommy/daddy time in the tub, it was all family time. What can you do? We needed the break, but it is so nice to be home!!!

Go Harry Go!!!

M and I had a date this afternoon for a change. Our neighbor, M, was nice enough to watch bumps for us so we could go see the new Harry Potter movie. It was THE BEST one by far!!! We got to see it at the IMAX which made it even more awesome!!! Man oh man, I can't wait to get this one on dvd when it comes out! Oh to live in the happy side of his world for a day. . .

Tim-brrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Man I love this time of year!!! We went out and cut down the Christmas tree today! It was a tradition that we started when M and I were married. We always had the fake kind growing up and I think we may be leaning towards that kind again just because the real can be so messy. It was around 30 today and snowing. . .perfect weather for tree cutting. And of course, I wanted the biggest tree possible that would fit in our house. Poor bumps wasn't so impressed with the tree cutting process though. Part of the problem was that he had an apple piece and didn't want to put his mittens on. He quickly learned why we wear mittens though when his hands got really cold since daddy accidently knocked him over in the snow. You want to talk about wailing, he did a really good job of it!!! It is done and over though and we have a beautiful tree in our house now that literally takes up half the living room. Man I love it!!! I can't wait to decorate it tomorrow!!!!!

Another One Bites the Dust!

I know, I know, it has been a week and I am so sorry for that! We were in Utah visiting the in-laws (and had a fabulous time) and I just didn't have time to post this weekend!!! The good news is that M is home from his deployment!!!!! YEAH!!! I was so worried about how bumps would handle him and he did so good!!! He went right to daddy and gave him a hug! They spend most of the afternoon getting reaquinted and I think everything is going to be good! We had a huge, and I mean huge, Thanksgiving dinner tonight with friends. I made Sangria for the first time and it was so freaking good. Thank you Rachel Ray for the recipe! M passed out pretty early tonight though, which was expected considering he flew halfway around the world today! We are just so happy to have daddy home with us again!!!

Beep Beep

Well, grandpa decided that bumps needed some new toys to play with at his house today, so we went on a little shopping trip. Bumps came home with a new stacker toy that lights up and plays music, a farm truck that makes noise, a football, and a toy story car thing that he can ride on. He loves all of them, especially the stacker and the car. The only problem is that he seems to think that you ride the car backwards. It is pretty funny because no matter how hard you try to get him to turn around the right way, he insists on sitting backwards so that he can hang onto the pusher thing. It is pretty funny. That must be his father coming out in him. . .not me at all because I am the least stubborn person you will ever meet. . . :)

Away We Go Again. . .

We traveled again today! We are now in Utah visiting the in-laws and my dad, bro, and sis this week for the holidays! It is very bittersweet for me right now because M isn't here with us. My in-laws have the beautiful new house and he isn't here to see it. Plus, turkey day is his favorite day, so that makes me sad too. But on the upside we have 1 week, yes that is 1 week until he gets home! Yeah!!!!! Bumps did really well traveling. He did get pretty tired of it towards the end of the second leg of the flight. All in all, we traveled for almost 12 hours today. Please keep us in your prayers this week because our layover on the way home is only 30 min and I am scared out of my mind that we are going to miss our second flight!!!!!!!

Funny Doggy

During bumps bathtime tonight, our dog F decided she wanted to join him. She is a pug, so she is small and spoiled rotten. She jumped in and bumps proceeded to laugh his hiney off that she was in the tub with him. When she got out, I dried her off and she started play growling with me and attacking the towel. She then proceeded to growl at her tail and chase it around and around. Bumps thought this was hysterical and decided he wanted in on the action. He got out of the tub and started chasing F all around the house. It was so cute to see the two of them play together. F would run and bumps would chase her and then vice-versa. I was so worried that they wouldn't get along when bumps got older, but it seems like I don't have to be worried anymore. I couldn't ask for a better dog or son. I do wish that M would have been here to see them playing, but we only have one more week until he gets too!!!

Sick

Well my little bumps officially has his first cold. He has never been sick in his whole 15 months of life and now he is so stuffy that he can't breath. Of course, since I am a first time mommy, I have no friggin idea what to do. I went and bought the dimatapp today (which I had to give all my info for because apparently people use it to make meth) and the vicks vapor rub and the little plug in for the room with the vapors for while he sleeps, all in hopes that something will help him feel better. His poor little nose is running nonstop and he is sneezing all the time. Hopefully in the next couple of days he will be better because a sick baby on an airplane is just not an experience I am ready to have!!!

What was that noise?

I was having a great conversation on the phone with my mother-in-law earlier this evening while bumps ran around naked after his bath. He has a diaper rash right now, so I was letting him air out some. I was sitting in the computer chair, which swivels, and bumps was playing in the area my back was facing. All of the sudden I hear a slight popping noise coming from behind me. I pause for a moment and then proceed to tell my mil that I think my son may be crapping on the carpet. I turn around just in time to see the red face and the squat. And to make it even better, it wasn't the hard kind. And to make that even better, he took off running and you can imagine what happened after that. Did I say that I missed him in my earlier post??? Hmmm. . .maybe miss wasn't the right word for it. . .

Craft Show

This weekend was my first craft show attempt with the Spokandles and I have to say that it went better than I ever could have hoped for! The only down part was the fact that for the first time ever I was away from bumps. In the 15 months of his life, I have never been away from him for more than 4 hours. On Saturday I was gone for almost 11. I just don't know how working moms do it. It was killing me being apart from him. They are so strong being able to leave their little ones to work out of the home. I know that a lot have too, but that doesn't make it any easier. This morning as I was leaving, bumps came up to me and gave me a kiss. I about lost it then and there. I just wanted to stay home with him and bail on the show. I am way to attached to this kid. . .

Baby Farts

Bumps: "eh, eh" pointing to toliet paper in the bathroom while I am going to the bathroom.

"No no, bumps. Leave the toliet paper alone"

Bumps: "eh, eh" More urgent this time.

All of the sudden there is a loud rumbling from bumps be-hiney that would have made his father proud.

Bumps "OOOHHHH" With his lips in a perfect "o"

That is daddies boy by God, daddies boy. . .

Roses

So M is officially the greatest husband ever. He sent me 2 dozen roses today. They are beautiful and really helped me to feel better. He somehow knows what to do to make me feel better all the time. I guess that is why I married him though. Sometimes men are cute like that!

Over the River and Through the Woods. . .

Bumps and I just got back from a trip to Montana to visit our friend R and her daughter. I also did a Spokandle party for them while I was there and it went well. We were supposed to stay until tomorrow, but go figure I managed to pick up the flu over the last couple of days! I am so sick to my stomach and praying that it goes away soon. The drive was amazing though, so that made everything easier for us. Bumps slept most of the time and he got to see snow for the first time this year. He wasn't impressed, but that's ok. He had a good time playing with B and that is all that matters! We can't wait to go back!

Laundry Detergent is BAD!!!!

My friend S came over tonight to hang out with bumps and I for awhile and go figure I manage to hurt myself while she was here. I was excited to show her the basement because I have been working my hiney off cleaning it and going through stuff. I also have been doing laundry. I decided to switch over loads while she was playing with bumps. I filled up the little cup and it managed to slip out of my hand while it was full. It splashed all over my face. . .in my nose, mouth, and eyes, which also contained my contacts. I haven't felt that much pain since labor. I somehow made it up the stairs and to the bathroom and managed to get my contacts out. My eyes are still killing me and I am praying that my contacts aren't ruined. I won't be wearing them tomorrow though. All I can say is why me?

My little bumps Posted by Picasa

Here we go. . .

One of my good friends suggested I get involved in this whole blog thing, so here we go. We are currently in week 6 of this wonderful thing called deployment and week 9 can't come soon enough. I know it is only 3 more weeks, but it seems like forever. For those who don't know me, my husband is a pilot in the world's greatest Air Force and he is damn good at his job. The only down point is the wonderful deployments. I never thought they would be as rough as they are and I have it good. M only leaves for 2 months at a time. There are so many others who leave for a year or more or never return at all. That doesn't make it any easier though. Bumps is now 15 months old and he knows that daddy is gone. I have never felt heartache until M put bumps back in the car before leaving on this deployment and he just started screaming for his daddy. Then the next morning he looked all over the house for him. And I think what is making it the hardest is that it is not going to get any easier. Each deployment (every 2 months if we are lucky) is going to get harder because bumps is getting older. Soon I am going to be that awful mommy who took daddy to leave.

So essentially what it boils down to is that this blog is going to be my vent for all these frustrations, whether they be military or with bumps, and Lord knows there are plenty with both!!! Trust me, there will be plenty of happy on here too, but I guess if this is my own writing space, I am going to let it all out when I need too. If you don't like it, tough! :)
